MARRY ME IN ITALY by Nicky Pellegrino

“It was poignant to read of ‘older’ love – an aged love with all its imperfections and oddities. It is refreshing to embrace a narrative of real life, conflicts, irritations and quirks that just work in all the messiness of life…”

This is Nicky’s 15th novel and I never tire of her characters she introduces us to or the descriptions of food that has you reaching for a ciabatta or glass of prosecco whilst devouring the pages of her latest Italian adventure.

If anything, when you’re reading an author’s 15th novel, you’re aware of how they have evolved as an author and themes or stages of life that have coincided with your own life seasons.

So it was poignant to read of ‘older love’ – an aged love with all its imperfections and oddities. It is refreshing to embrace the narrative of real life, conflicts, irritations and quirks that just work in all the messiness of life. How refreshing to not be reading saccharine-soaked angst and youthful tension!

It’s the real life that I appreciated the most as I turned the pages of Marry Me In Italy. It is still escapism at its best but anchored in realistic life experiences and you feel included in the circle of literary friends that gather outside the trattoria in the little village of Montenello.
