HAZELBOURNE LADIES MOTORCYCLE & FLYING CLUB by Helen Simonson

“A captivating tale set in and around an English seaside hotel in 1919. A full, colourful vast array of characters give structure and strength to this loved tale…”

Delving into the pages of a new Helen Simonson novel is a treat – she gifted us Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand in 2010 and remains on my ‘firm favourites’ list.

If you’re a fan of strong, sharp minded women with wit and humour in your historical fiction then you’ll love the cast of characters in Hazelbourne Ladies and Motorcycle Club. Set in 1919 in a seaside hotel, Post-War England where the women are trying to assert their social position and valid reasons to retain their positions in the workforce after the return of soldiers from Europe.

Poppy Wirrall and Constance Haverhill become unlikely companions but have good reasons to fight the new laws excluding them from their rightful work roles – the social class rules are harder to shake.

If you’re a fan of Dictionary Of Lost Words by Pip Williams then this captivating tale is a worthy comparison.
