COME BACK CODE by Jake Bailey

by | Mar 13, 2025

“We all face adversity in life and some are more significant challenges than others…but how do we navigate this and why do some seem to master the seasons better than others?

It’s ten years since Christchurch student Jake Bailey fought for the battle of his life after a dire cancer diagnosis. He reached remission and gave a most significant and inspiring valedictory speech as Head Boy of Christchurch Boy’s High School.

Ten years on his battles with adversity have morphed into further study and the creation of a toolbox-handbook to navigating life’s curve-balls.

The Come Back Code is a result of his years of travels, speaking and study. He defines the resilience needed to walk through hard times, life-altering experiences and the disappointments of life. Resilience is needed to walk through these times and be stronger on the other side.

Jake doesn’t give pat-pat answers nor does he have condescending tones, Jake is forthright and precise. He involves others that have had to have tenacity and dig deep into their personal reserves to overcome obstacles or challenges. He included interviews with Abbas Nazari (After The Tampa), athlete Zoe Hobbs and Liam Malone and together they build an unpretentious narrative that strengthens his ‘Four S’ plan – Slow-down, Salvage, Streamline and Stand Alongside.

Come Back Code is an ideal book for not only adults, but I strongly advocate this for any young adult to build the resilience reserves they’ll need in their lives.
